As Senior Vice President and General Manager, Amanda is responsible for the strategic direction, growth and profitability of USAA's life insurance lines. She has the end-to-end ownership of critical functions, including driving innovation and the orchestration of product development, underwriting and new business issuance. Through collaborative partnerships across USAA, Amanda is dedicated to delivering industry-leading, competitive life insurance products and services that meet the unique needs of the military community and their families. Prior to her current role, Amanda led Pricing & Reinsurance, where she oversaw many firsts for USAA. She launched fixed indexed annuities and market value adjusted annuities, while also implementing pricing and reinsurance strategies that helped grow annuity sales from $1.5B to over $6B in annual premium. She negotiated and executed $7.2B in closed block annuity reinsurance deals, which generated hundreds of millions in economic value for USAA. In her role leading reinsurance, she also was responsible for onboarding three new strategic relationships and new forms of reinsurance for USAA. From 2003 through 2013, Amanda held various roles at USAA leading Corporate Actuarial, Life Actuarial Valuation, and worked in Life Insurance Pricing, and as a Member Service Representative in P&C. Amanda is a founding member of the Life Insurance Executive Forum, an industry group focused on improving the financial security of underserved communities through life insurance. She is also a founding board member for Garlyn Place, a non-profit focused on serving adults with developmental disabilities. Amanda graduated from Schreiner University with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics. She is a member of the American Academy of Actuaries and is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries. Amanda is also master certified in neuro-linguistic programming and as a breakthrough coach. Amanda and her husband, Gavin, reside in San Antonio and enjoy traveling, hiking and spoiling their nephews and niece.
