AVP - Product Design, Content, and Research Nationwide Insurance
Priyanka Gupta

Priyanka Gupta is AVP of Product Design at Nationwide, where she leads Omnichannel UX Product Design with more than 20 years of experience translating complex systems into seamless experiences. She works at the convergence of design, data, and AI — and her focus is on making that convergence practical, not theoretical.

Her current focus is designing the next era of human–AI work. That means reshaping how design teams operate so AI meaningfully expands how they see patterns, generate options, and test ideas — without outsourcing judgment. It means partnering with product teams to build experiences where AI takes on more of the cognitive load, but humans remain responsible for what matters most: defining what the right outcome is in the first place. That conviction is embodied in Nationwide's HAT Design Principles — that human-AI experiences must be Aligned to real human goals, Understandable enough to be trusted, Controllable when it matters, and Resilient when things go wrong. Principles grounded not in optimism about AI, but in research across human-centered AI, sociotechnical systems, and behavioral science.

Priyanka's background spans UX strategy, research, conversational AI, interaction design, visual design, and content strategy. She is known for pairing clear business outcomes with a strong human-centered perspective, and has led enterprise UX transformations across insurance, financial services, retail, and technology. A consistent throughline in her work is using decision modeling and human-AI teaming practices to ensure AI is tied to real decision contexts, measurable value, and managed risk — not just feature adoption.

She is also committed to developing the next generation of design leaders. Her teams focus on operating models, skills, and culture — especially AI literacy, HAT practices, and responsible use — so that AI extends human capability rather than substituting for it.

Priyanka holds advanced degrees in Human-Centered Computing and is a published author in journals and conferences. She brings the same analytical rigor and systems-level perspective to speaking and facilitation that she applies to product and experience design.
